Painting of a Young Girl Purchased
The Ryerson Library Foundation granted funds to the Library for the purchase of two limited edition canvas prints of Painting of a Young Girl by Lester White. The art depicts a young African American girl enjoying a book at the library. According to Marcia Warner, Library Director, the painting gives validation to young people that reading is important and beautiful, and is a welcome addition to the Library’s collection of art.
One of the prints will grace the Children’s Department at the Main Library. The other will be hung in one of the Library’s seven branches.
